A New Year

It’s a New Year we made it to 2010. This year has been different to me. I have not heard many people talking about their New Years resolution. Generally when your out and about you hear someone saying what their goal for the New Year is, this time I hadn’t. Have you set a goal? If not you should it’s really neat to see if you can make your goal. Some people set their goals small and some pick stop smoking or to lose so much weight by a certain date.  It doesn’t matter what you chose the best part is seeing if you can beat it. Talk with your friends and family as well maybe you can make a group goal. I do know of one goal that everyone should make and that’s making the world a better place to live. There is just too much negativity and violence in the world today. So let’s have a fun and safe New Year.

Weather

Tis’ the season for bad weather. As we all know it snows in December, what better way to celebrate Christmas? The only problem is people don’t take precautions. There are so many accidents when weather starts changing and snow and ice start appearing. People think it’s ok to travel at normal speeds but you should drive slower and take your time. Leave early if need be but don’t rush. Also never slam on your breaks that always causes problems and even accidents. Today there have been several accidents and even one death.

It is supposed to continue snowing tonight and tomorrow quit for a couple of days and continue again on Saturday. Don’t panic because there is snow on the ground that is also a big cause of accidents just relax and be cautious. We do need the road trucks out on every road if were going to have ice and lots of snow. I noticed several people saying state road 9 going into Shelbyville didn’t have the roads sprayed which is not right if surrounding areas get it. Stated road 9 going through hope and to 46 had been sprayed.

The State Highway and the cities need to be taking care of the roads so that there aren’t a lot of accidents. However being cautious is also a way to prevent accidents so be careful when the weather gets bad.

Zhu Zhu Pets

Every year there is one gift that everyone goes for and this year it is the Zhu Zhu Pet. They are all the rage.  Every child wants one and stores can not keep them in stock. These little battery operated hamsters are perfect for kids that want a pet, and for parents because they don’t have to clean up after them. These pet hamsters make more than 40 different noises such as squeaks and chirps. They are so popular that stores get them in several times a week and they are usually gone the day they arrive. They can’t keep them in stock. These toys around $10 but parents are going so far as to buy them off of Ebay for $60 or more from re-sellers. These hamsters even have accessories such as cars and funhouses like the ones real hamsters have but are made for these Zhu Zhu Pets. What better way for your child to have a pet than one that requires no maintenance. If it’s something you are already trying to find I wish you luck these are just as popular as Cabbage Patch dolls and Ferby’s once were.  We all remember how popular those were as well.

Hunting

As everyone knows it is Hunting Season, and of course Hunters are out religiously engaging in their favorite sport. However I came across an article today about a Hunter who was shot by another Hunter. I don’t know the details on this story they hadn’t yet been released. I do know that it is under investigation at this time and I figured it was something to be acknowledged.  I myself am a new Hunter but have been taught for years to wear Hunter Orange in the woods if I planned on hunting.  Let’s keep it safe out there. Follow the rules of Hunting and pay attention to the firearms. We don’t want people getting shot because we aren’t paying attention. If you are teaching your children to hunt keep them close until they have learned enough to be on their own. Hunting is not a sport that you can just send them out to do. It takes knowledge and a Hunter’s Education Course. Let’s be honest hunting is a fun and nerve wracking sport, especially if the bug Buck is standing in front of you. Why ruin your day with being injured by another or injuring yourself because you aren’t familiar with Hunter’s safety. Good luck out there and be safe.
